At the beginning of 1999 all scientific intellectuals and the public of Kharkov (and not only of Kharkov!) had celebrated the 80-th Anniversary of Alexey Vasilyevich Pogorelov. This man yet had entered into such phase of being when we just realized: his genious belongs to the whole world. But it's very nice for us, for the selfish kharkovians, that A.V. is also our fellow citizen!
