Outstanding physicist of the present, specialist in the field of dielectrics and semiconductors, Anton Karlovich Walter was in 1932 among the Soviet pioneer-scientists which had split the atomic nuclear. It had happened in Kharkov, at Ukrainian Technical Physics Institute.  In 1951 Walter had received the title of Academician of AS of Ukrainian SSR.

     
  
 

A.K. managed since 1945 one of UTPI departments, directed the construction of several atomic accelerators, in particular of the linear 2 milliards e.V. one, and organized the experiments on nuclear and particle physics. A great number of scientific works belongs to him, including several monographs which are devoted to dielectric and semiconductor physics, high-voltage technology, vacuum physics and technology, high-energy physics.

At the same time Walter  was occupied with fruitful teaching, he developed and lectured interesting courses on different parts of physics. Since 1937 till the end of his life A.K. managed the chair in KSU, but for a long time he also collaborated with KPI, giving the lectures for students of Physical Engineering Department.
