- 1991 - The creation of the regional
access centre to the Relcom/Internet network on Kharkov long distance
telegraph telephone exchange. The beginning of commercial usage of the Internet.
- 1992 - Organising of pathway channels
for computer communication with the network nodes in Kiev and other East Ukraine towns.
Today these towns are Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kremenchug.
- 1993 - The node ktts.kharkov.ua became the first IP
provider in Ukraine, thus initiating on-line access to the Internet.
- 1994 - Rendering the whole spectre of
the Internet services (including TELNET, FTP, SMTP and
others) based on TCP/IP protocol.
- 1996- The capacity of Kharkov's most
powerful modem pool is increased to 32 access lines. Switch access to the
node sites is accomplished through four serial numbers, business class numbers, through
the telephone network "Iskra-1" and "Iskra-2". Non-switch access
through the set lines is accomplished through Cisco 2511 routing device. The opening of a
students' Internet centre(http://www.kpi.kharkov.ua/russian/ci)
in Kharkov Polytechnic University(http://www.kpi.kharkov.ua).
The opening of "Gate Way Kharkov Service Ltd" company (mailto:[email protected]).
- 1997 - Total Internet access speed is
increased to 128 Kbyte/sec. The speed of a single channel is 64 Kbyte/sec. The opening of
Kharkov's Web site (http://www.kharkov.ua) .
- 1998 - The creation of backbone for direct routing
with all Kharkov Internet providers (KHARKOV.NET project.)
